District Interoperability

Intergrated Server

It All Fits Together

One of the greatest administrative challenges to improving student performance is seamlessly and securely connecting disparate software applications, databases, and networks. At Pearson, we connect the systems that power education, turning disparate data into actionable information that improves learning. Our products, professional services, and development toolkits are based on the definitive standard for interoperability in K-12 education, the Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF®).

Schools Interoperability Framework

SIF is a sophisticated, service-oriented architecture (SOA) technical standard for education. SIF ensures interoperability between disparate software applications — improving data accuracy and reliability, streamlining staff and business processes, and reducing costs.

Want to SIF-enable one of your software applications? All you need are two things to exchange data using SIF:

  • A SIF agent — an adapter that converts your application's proprietary data structure to a national standard, and
  • Access to a Zone Integration Server, or ZIS

At Pearson, we debuted the market's leading ZIS product in 2002, the SIFWorks® Enterprise Zone Integration Server (ZIS), and it has been the gold standard ever since. We started with full SIF 2 compliance, then added custom data manipulation, zone organization, user and group account management, and more.

Today, our SIFWorks Enterprise ZIS is available as an installable product, a cloud-based solution, or our premium offering, a fully managed cloud-based solution.

Linux, Microsoft, and more. The SIFWorks Enterprise ZIS is platform-agnostic, so we'll work with the infrastructure that works for you!
